Marking the 40th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, Wizards of the Coast plans on epic scale celebration which will culminate in the launch of the next incarnation of Dungeons & Dragons this summer with Tyranny of Dragons. A new storyline where players will be able to encounter the legendary five headed dragon Tiamat. Tiamat was first introduced into D&D lore back in the mid ’70s.

A white dragon plunders caravans heading north to Icewind Dale. In the Silver Marches, a scornful red dragon torches a town that refuses to pay a king’s ransom. Elsewhere, dragon-worshiping barbarians in Viking longships attack merchant vessels leaving Neverwinter, while masked heathens infiltrate a noble villa in Waterdeep, murder its lord, and steal a draconic artifact.

This next chapter for Dungeons & Dragons will be adapted across multiple platforms including tabletop, console, and mobile devices.

“It’s really epic in terms of scale,” says Nathan Stewart, brand director for D&D at games publisher Wizards of the Coast.
