If you have ever played a fantasy role-playing game then chances are, you know about the Bones II Kickstarter. In fact I know specifically that 14,964 gamers know about it because that is how many backers Reaper received. As one of the most successful gaming related Kickstarters, there is no denying the popularity of these little (and in some cases big) distinctively white miniatures.
- Pledged: $3,169,610
- Funded: 10,565% of its goal
- Backers: 14,964
- Time it took to meet the pledge goal: 3 minutes
- Number of miniatures: 331*
Now I know for some retailers, Kickstarter is a dirty word, but think of it this way. There are 14,964 gamers that are excited and talking about these miniatures. That is a lot of word of mouth advertising. In fact you may have already had some customers in your store showing off these little white heroes and denizens.
Customers started to receive wave 1 of Bones II miniatures mid February. That has given them enough time to throw some paint on them and do some damage to unsuspecting adventuring parties. Now PHD has begun to receive Bones II stock and stores can start ordering immediately.
In all, there are 331* miniatures in Bones II. 131 of which are new sculpts.
* 331 is a rough count depending on what you consider a miniature. There are lots of terrain and accessory bits as well.
There are some really nifty miniatures with this set including the Gelatinous Cube (RPR77305) which is cast in a translucent plastic. It can also split apart to engulf the unsuspecting hero who failed their spot check.
Additionally the large figures with this set are awesome. Take a look at the Kraken (RPR77291) and the Khanjira (RPR77380). It is worth getting one and having one of your store regulars paint it up to go in your display case. It will attract some great attention and get the conversation rolling.
Whether you hate Kickstarter or love it, the market is in no way saturated with these. The Bones that we have received are flying out the door to retailers across the country. Don’t miss out on the excitement, call your friendly PHD account manager today.
